"Some Americans can fight abuses of power and disastrous policies directly—in courts, in congressional offices, in the press. But all can dedicate themselves to restoring the qualities upon which this republic, like all republics depends: on reverence for the truth; on a sober patriotism grounded in duty, moderation, respect for law, commitment to tradition, knowledge of our history, and open-mindedness. "After the attacks of September 11, 2001, the Bush administration hastily assembled a wish list of every overzealous prosecutor and surveillance agent. The initials of the legislation were tortured until they spelled out the U.S.A. P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act, or the Patriot Act for short. What patriot could be against the Patriot Act?"
"Republican advocates of school vouchers, mindful of the well-established support for public schools, began rebranding them as the more sinister sounding “government schools.” When President George W. Bush sponsored a tax-subsidized drug insurance program run by private insurance companies, he made sure to brand it “Medicare Part D,” since Medicare was a broadly supported public program―even though his drug program was a pure windfall to the drug industry and had nothing whatever to do with Medicare.
my dad loves poison and chemicals. he is always spraying something that will kill you, eventually, though it has not killed him...yet. chemicals and chemical companies do not care if their products kill you. go read about round-up weed killer. monsanto is a reprehensible corporation. just do a search. it's not pleasant.
so, i do not like chemicals.
so i use caffenol to develop my black and white work.
i use this formula:
i was using ilford, but it is really expensive and i dunno, i just like making photographs. i am using ultrafine xtreme 400 with a red glass filter. the rating wore off the brass, so i am not sure about that. i don't get hung up on technical details at all. i just really don't care. i like the feeling i get making them and the next feeling i get in sharing them. people get hung up on gear and i just don't get it. i'll read people who obsess over techincal data and have thousands of dollars worth of amazing cameras and lenses and thier work is...technical: without life.
